RND Leadership

Sean Dotson, PE – President

Sean DotsonSean, a Tampa, Florida native, graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Working for Aidlin Automation (later GEBO USA & Sidel USA) he was the Engineering & Manufacturing Manager for the Bradenton facility, responsible for all aspects of both the custom and standard product lines. Sean and his two partners purchased the custom automation division of Sidel in 2005, forming RND Automation & Engineering.

He earned his Professional Engineering license in 2002. Sean holds two patents, was the recipient of the 2007 CAD Society Joe Greco Community award and is a well known figure in the Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD software community, having written several articles and coauthoring a book on the subject.

Sean is President and major partner of RND Automation & Engineering. He leads a staff of mechanical and electrical engineers and designers as well as heading up all sales efforts.

Sean and his wife live in Sarasota, FL with their son & daughter. In his spare time Sean swims, cycles and runs as training for Ironman distance triathlons.

Doug Robertson – Vice President

Doug RobertsonDouglas Robertson, a native of Sarasota, Florida is entering into his 15th year of custom automation and machine assembly. Doug is Vice President and one of the founding partners of RND Automation.

At RND Automation, Doug's focus has been custom machine design, assembly, sales and maintaining close customer relations. Prior to RND Automation, Doug worked for Aidlin Automation (later GEBO USA & Sidel USA) and was the Custom and Standard Designs Manager for the Bradenton facility.

Doug attended Manatee Community College and received an AS degree in Criminal Justice. His interests are fishing, shooting trap, and racing Hare Scrambles with his son.

Doug has been married to his wife Lisa for 23 years and has 2 children. They reside in Sarasota, Florida.

Bruce Naylor – Vice President

Sean DotsonBruce moved to Florida from Vermont in 1972. In 1984 he received an Associate of Arts Degree in Architecture from State College of Florida. During his final semester at SCF he enrolled in the first CAD class offered at the college. Upon completion of his Degree, Bruce accepted a job offer from Seimens which had recently opened a large facility in Ellenton, FL. He was responsible for the mechanical design and order processing for Seimens 400 Frame Electric Motors.

In 1988 Bruce joined the Engineering Department at Aidlin Automation (later GEBO USA & Sidel USA). Over the next 17 years he continued to expand his knowledge in the area of Custom Machine equipment design. Bruce and his two business partners purchased the custom automation division of Sidel in 2005, forming RND Automation & Engineering.

Bruce and his wife reside in Bradenton, FL and enjoy horse racing.
